Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 August 2026
Short version: Dayfeed does not require you to create an account. Almost all data stays on your device. Free users see short video ads served by Google AdMob — these ads are how Dayfeed earns revenue without charging for the app. You can remove ads entirely with a Dayfeed Pro subscription. We do not sell your data.
What Data We Collect
1. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
All personal preferences and user-created content are stored locally using the device's secure storage (SharedPreferences). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it:
- Favorites: Days you have bookmarked
- Custom Days: Personal celebration days you create (name, date, emoji, color, optional photo)
- App Settings: Language, theme (light/dark), notification time, country preference
- Search History: Your last 8 search queries (stored locally, cleared on app uninstall)
- Streak Counter: Number of consecutive daily app opens
2. Notification Permissions
If you enable notifications, the app schedules local notifications on your device. These are processed entirely on-device. We do not have access to your notification data and do not send push notifications through external servers.
- What: Daily reminders and yearly reminders for specific days
- Why: To notify you about today's special days at your chosen time
- Who: No third party receives this data
3. Photo Library Access
The app requests access to your photo library when you use photo backgrounds for posters or save created posters to your device.
- What: Reading/writing images from/to your photo library
- Why: To let you use personal photos as poster backgrounds and save your finished posters
- Who: No third party receives your photos. Photos are processed entirely on-device.
4. App Tracking Transparency (iOS only)
On iOS, we display Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before initializing RevenueCat or loading ads. If you allow tracking, the device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used to improve subscription analytics and ad relevance.
- What: Device advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you grant permission
- Why: To help RevenueCat measure subscription conversion and serve relevant ads
- Who: RevenueCat, Inc. (revenuecat.com/privacy) and Google LLC (AdMob — see section 6 below)
If you deny ATT permission, the app works fully — neither RevenueCat nor AdMob will use your IDFA.
5. Subscription & Purchase Data (RevenueCat)
If you purchase a Dayfeed Pro subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status.
- What: Purchase receipts, subscription status, device identifiers (anonymous)
- Why: To verify your subscription and unlock Pro features
- Who: RevenueCat, Inc. (revenuecat.com/privacy). Apple or Google process payment — we never see your payment card details.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
To support Dayfeed without charging for the app, free users see short video ads served by Google AdMob. You can remove all ads by subscribing to Dayfeed Pro.
When ads appear: Ads appear when you take certain "free" actions on a poster, a notification, or a new entry in your collection — for example sharing a poster, adding custom text, scheduling an extra advance alert, saving with a premium template, or adding a second day, journey, or countdown. You'll see at most one rewarded ad per local day across all of these actions; after that, gated actions route to the paywall until the next day.
Consent:
- iOS: The first time you take a gated action after your first poster share, Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt asks if we may track you. You can answer Yes or No — your choice is remembered.
- Android (EU / UK): Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) shows a consent dialog asking whether you want personalised or non-personalised ads. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Reset ad consent.
- Android (everywhere else): Non-personalised ads are served by default.
What AdMob collects:
- Device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) — only if you grant consent
- Device information: model, OS version, screen size, language, time zone
- Ad interaction events: when an ad is requested, shown, watched to completion, or clicked
- Coarse location (country/region level) inferred from IP address — for ad relevance
- Ad performance metrics: fill rate, viewability, latency
What AdMob does NOT collect through Dayfeed:
- Your name, email, or any contact information
- Your custom days, favourites, search history, or any user-generated content
- Your photos or poster designs
- Dayfeed cannot match ad identifiers to your Dayfeed account because you don't have one
Children: Dayfeed is rated 4+. AdMob does not serve personalised ads to users flagged as under 13 under Google's policies. If you believe a child is seeing personalised ads, please contact us.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information (no sign-in required)
- We do not collect your precise location (only coarse country/region inferred by AdMob for ad relevance)
- We do not sell your data to advertisers
- We do not use third-party analytics (no Firebase, Mixpanel, or similar)
- We do not collect crash reports automatically (no Crashlytics or Sentry)
- We do not access your contacts, microphone, or camera
Data Retention
All locally stored data (favorites, custom days, settings) is retained on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data. You can delete custom days individually from within the app.
Subscription data managed by RevenueCat is retained according to RevenueCat's data retention policy.
Ad-related identifiers (Advertising ID, ATT consent state, UMP consent state, AdMob's own cookies) are retained per Google's policies — typically 13 months maximum for advertising identifiers, after which they are reset.
Children's Privacy
Dayfeed is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since we do not require account creation and store data locally, no personal information is transmitted from any user, including children. AdMob is configured to treat traffic from this app as non-personalised for users flagged as under 13.
Your Rights (GDPR & applicable laws)
If you are located in the European Union or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access: Know what personal data is held about you
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data
- Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Object: Object to certain data processing
- Opt out of personalised ads: Decline consent when prompted, or change it any time in Settings → Reset ad consent (Android) / through iOS Settings → Privacy → Tracking (iOS)
- Reset your advertising identifier: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID; iOS Settings → Privacy → Tracking → toggle off
Since virtually all Dayfeed data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly:
- Delete custom days from the app's custom days management screen
- Clear all app data via your device's Settings → Apps → Dayfeed → Clear Data
- Revoke permissions (photos, notifications, tracking) via your device's Settings
For RevenueCat subscription data, contact RevenueCat at privacy@revenuecat.com. For AdMob data, see support.google.com/admob/answer/9561028 or Google's Ads Help at support.google.com/ads/answer/2662856.
Security
We use industry-standard practices:
- All data is stored locally using the platform's secure storage APIs
- Network connections use HTTPS/TLS
- We do not store your payment information — Apple and Google handle all transactions
